all about we have brains
We Have Brains is a collaborative project aimed at feminists and the feminist-curious [the staff of this site places no gender limitation on who can or can't be a feminist, in case you're wondering]. Our focus is on discussion and sharing. The site was formed in March 2002 as a forum for feminists to interact and discuss a variety of issues. Initially, the project was a semi-selfish effort designed to give me more opportunities for conversation. It works quite simply. Each week, the staff of We Have Brains posts one question that serves as the discussion or "collab" topic for that week. Readers (who typically join our notify list to get the topics emailed right to them) comment from their personal perspective. Many readers choose to post their comments here on the site; others post something here and then go into detail on their own blogs or sites (which they link).
In addition to our discussion topics, the staff posts a weekly "Grrrly News" column - simplifying your life by consolidating all those news feeds into one - and our "They Have Brains" feature, highlighting significant feminist figures who've been overlooked somewhat by history. We also post a variety of sites and books in our "Recommended Reading" category, as a way for staff and readers to share what sparks them.
If you'd like to get involved, feel free to jump into the discussion at any time. Please respect our unwritten community guidelines (basically, act like a grownup), but otherwise you need not introduce yourself to get started. However, if you'd like to support the site with a link or a little free press here and there, please check out the "join" page for more info.
Thanks for coming; feel free to email me (remove the "remove this") with questions or comments.
